Take Me Out to the...

In early May, we took the kids to their first baseball game. It was a little chilly but we had great seats behind home plate. They both stayed really engaged. It was great timing to get Jacob excited about baseball just before he began playing on his tball team. Both kids had a lot of questions, but it was fun to teach them about my favorite sport.

Easter (Sorry so late)

Easter coincided closely to Jacob's birthday this year, so we had a lot to celebrate.

This was also the first year we dyed eggs. The kids had fun but I forgot how long the egg actually has to sit in the cup for good color...they didn't quite have the attention span for that.

Every year we get a picture on Mom and Dad's front steps. This year the sun was shining warm and bright, so this is the best I could get. They make me laugh.

We made Jacob a Lego cake for his birthday. It went well with his new stash of Legos that he opened later. I bet you couldn't guess that he likes Legos.

 And his new favorite show - Person of Interest. He's excited for Season 2!

Cornbread Drama

I need to preface this video.

Late last week, I had made cornbread muffins for dinner. All but one was eaten and it sat over the weekend while we were gone. So, it got tossed.

As we were preparing the kids for bed, I went downstairs (with Jenna following closely behind as usual) to retrieve something and noticed Josie with her head down by the backdoor. I went to investigate and found a mess of crumbs.

You guessed it...She had opened the garbage and taken the cornbread muffin to the carpet by the backdoor to enjoy her guilty pleasure. As I approached, I knew exactly was it was and exclaimed that I couldn't believe that she even ate the wrapper/paper. I booted her outside as "punishment" while I cleaned up the crumbs but that was the end of it.

Jenna, on the other hand, was much more upset about Josie's behavior and was "done" with her.

Christmas Kick-off

We continued two great family traditions: putting up the tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving and the Children's Holiday party at my work the following weekend. It is a wonderful and festive way of kicking off the holiday season.

Holiday Party - My work has an annual holiday party for children of its employees. There are games, crafts, snacks, and SANTA (the picture is taken by a photographer and will be posted soon).

This was the first time Daddy was able to go with us. The kids and I enjoyed sharing this with him. We were missing Grandpa John as he usually stood in for Daddy. But we know he was "with" us for the fun.
